Protect Your Condo
Any damage to a condo unit caused by flood, fire, etc., regardless of origination, shall be the owners responsibility and burden to repair. It is strongly suggested that unit owners purchase homeowners insurance, whether the unit is vacant, inhabited by owner, or rented to protect their unit from damage caused by water or fire originating from another unit. Florida law does not deem a unit owner legally responsible for damage caused to another unit. You are responsible for repair of your unit, no matter what the cause of damage, unless the damage is caused by the Association, i.e. leaking pipes inside the walls of a unit.
